Mole Removal - A single mole in your yard can really be aggravating. Mole
damage to a yard can add up quick. Most homeowners are confused on all
the different rumors on home remedies or control methods out there. Castor
beans, Juicy Fruit gum, human hair, sonic noise makers, Drano, moth balls
and poison peanuts are just a few things that people try to no avail.
Spending time on these items will just give the moles time to colonize and
get a well established tunnel network throughout your yard making them
harder to remove. Scientific studies have shown that trapping is the only
effective method of control. The traps we use kill the mole and dead moles
do not reproduce!

The eastern mole which is the most common in Illinois is an insectivore.
Their main food source is earthworms but also feed on grubs, beetles, ants
and the likes of. An adult mole will be around 6 inches long and weighs
about 5 ounces. Their eyes and ears do not protrude out. Their front
shoulders are very well muscled to help them dig new or existing tunnels. A
mole can travel up to 80 feet per hour in existing tunnels and 15 feet of
making new ones. Feeding tunnels or runs that you see leave a raised ridge
on the surface of a yard. Main tunnels are usually deeper and cannot be
seen. Sometimes mounds of dirt are pushed up from these to get the excess
dirt out of their tunnels and out of their way. Mole hills or mounds usually
appear when the ground is getting very dry. Their food source is deeper
during dry times. Moles make more surface runs during rainy and wet
conditions mainly in the spring and fall looking for the food source. They are
active all year long but stay below the frost line during the winter months.
Moles have 1 litter a year ranging from 2 to 6 young in the spring of the year.
